Import Mbox into Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. From Settings, select Add-ons and Themes.
  4. In Extensions, search for ImportExportTools NG.
  5. Select ImportExportTools NG and click Add to Thunderbird to install the extension.

This extension allows you to import MBOX files directly into Thunderbird.

  1. Go to the main email screen and navigate to Local Folders or any folder/account you prefer.
  2. Right-click on the folder, select ImportExportTools NG and then choose Import MBOX file.
  3. Select Individual MBOX files.

  1. Navigate to the MBOX file with your Comcast email.

Note: The import process may take a few minutes, depending on the file size.

  1. In Outlook, you will get a folder with your @Comcast.net email (for this example, we are using Comcast-Client@comcast.net). Right-click on the folder, select ImportExportTools NG and then choose Import MBOX file —> Select Individual MBOX files.

  1. Your @Comcast.net inbox folder files (.Mbox) will be located within the Comcast-Client@comcast.net folder, which was unzipped along with your Mbox file. Note: This is done to preserve the folder structure.

12. Select all MBOX files found and complete the import process.

  1. Congratulations! You've successfully preserved your folder structure and completed the import into Thunderbird.
