How do I import Mbox into Thunderbird?


  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. From Settings, select Add-ons and Themes.
  4. In Extensions, search for MBOX
  5. Choose a relevant extension and click Add to Thunderbird to install the extension.
  6. Go to the main email screen and navigate to Local Folders or any folder/account you prefer.
  7. Right-click on the folder, select the extension you selected and then choose Import MBOX file.
  8. Select Individual MBOX files.

  1. Navigate to the MBOX file with your Comcast.net email.

  1. In Thunderbird, you will get a folder with your Comcast.net email. Right-click on the folder, select the extension you installed and then choose Import MBOX file > Select Individual MBOX files.

  1. Your Comcast.net inbox folder files (.Mbox) will be located within the [name]@comcast.net folder, which was unzipped along with your Mbox file. Note: This is done to preserve the folder structure. 

12. Select all MBOX files found and complete the import process.

  1. Congratulations! You've successfully preserved your folder structure and completed the import into Thunderbird
